Indians report: Strategy and personnel

Strategy and personnel · Inside slant · Notes, quotes

ASU passed for 350 yards against a solid Missouri defense. The Indians have relied on the run for so long they've become the epitome of a one-dimensional offense. If the passing game continues to develop, ASU's offense will certainly cause Sun Belt opponents problems.

ASU is starting six true or redshirt freshmen on defense, so this group is a work in progress. The Indians didn't make much progress at Missouri, though, allowing more than 500 yards in total offense and 52 points.

Senior safety LeUndo Adams, a heralded JUCO signee two years ago, was dismissed from the team. ... Senior center Tab Slaughter, who missed more than half of last season with a knee injury, was told by doctors that his career is over. ... Junior defensive back Chris Littleton was dismissed from the team. ... Senior defensive back Chris Jones, who has missed the last season and a half with a bad knee injury, played against Missouri and had three tackles. ... Senior OL Steven Gibbs (hand) missed Saturday's game at Missouri. ... Sophomore RB Chris Easley (knee) is out for the season.
