Cincinnati has spent the past two months basking in the afterglow of its most successful season in nearly half a century.

Coach Brian Kelly, who agreed to a contract extension this offseason, welcomes back 16 starters, including three All-Americans, from a team that went 10-3 and beat Mississippi State in the PapaJohns.com Bowl.

The Bearcats enter spring drills as one of the early favorites to contend for the Big East title. But, important questions need to be answered.

Who will start at quarterback? Who will be the featured running back?

Good thing for Kelly, there are plenty of viable options. Demetrius Jones transferred from Notre Dame to compete for the quarterback job. Speedy junior Jacob Ramsey is the top returning back, but freshman Isaiah Pead could compete immediately.

The Bearcats are deep at most positions, keeping most of the focus on the quarterback battle for much of the spring.

I'm not here to be bearer of bad news or anything of the sort.  You can even feel free to bypass this thread until after the seasons done and over with, but IF Kelly were to leave for ND who do you all think would be in line to take over for him?  Who would you all want to be looked at as candidates?  ...(more)

It just seems like this story won't die. From today's Sporting News (week of November 9 issue) in the "Since You Asked..." section (pg. 6):

Brian O'Donnell, Akron, asked:

If Ohio State called Cincinnati and said, "We want to start a home-and-home football series as soon as you have an open date," what would the Bearcats say? Now that both programs are

Because hes probably not going to see the field again this year. Collaros looks like hes a little too hot and in sync to take out of the game. I dont know what i would do because Pike was such a huge part of this team also, but i think Kelly starts Collaros on Friday night against WVU. The look on Pikes face last night said it all, he looked completely worried that he might not be out there again. ...(more)

Cincy and Boise State are having good seasons, but these teams just give up to many points.

I look for Cincy to lose to Pitt, and Boise State should have a close game with Nevada.

The score of the Nevada-Boise St. game should be in the neighborhood of 51-48.

I'm sorry, but any team that gives up this many points does not deserve to be ranked as high as 5t ...(more)

The BCS is not out yet but all the other polls are. We are 5th in the Coaches and Harris and 4th in the average of the 6 computers. TCU is 4th in the two "human" polls and 5th in the computers. Since each is 1/3 of the BCS ranking system, TCU will probably come out  4th and UC 5th (but very close). What do you think?

Personnally, I don't have a problem with it. TCU has

Thats also if we can win the last 3 of our Big East games. But every week i wait for the polls to come out so i can see where UC ended up. Well this week in the coaches poll, Iowa jumped us. They barely win at Mich st and then have to form a dramatic comeback against Indiana( yes Indiana) and they jump over us. TCU and Boise played very weak non- bcs teams and they are 4 and 5. (again please tell ...(more)

All UC can do is keep winning. Texas and Florida both looked better than they have in a few weeks. With some of the teams that are ahead of us (TCU and Boise State) continuing to win and likely to go undefeated (easy schedules) and some teams possibly jumping us from below (Oregon), a NC bid looks remote, not impossible, but remote.

Iowa's ranking in the Coaches Poll is a true farce.

With your remaining games left, who do you fear most? WVU? Pitt? UConn? Illinois? I hope my Mountaineers can take you down but it will definitely be the toughest task we have remaining. I don't get how you guys can lose that many starters but seem to get better. Hope Pike's injury isn't too bad I hate beating teams because of injuries. See you November 13th!

Well at this point every game is like a playoff game for us if we want even a shot at the national championship, but anyways... UCONN. They haven't won since the death of Jasper Howard. We are probably the biggest game on their schedule right now, they will be pumped and ready to play... They are actually a decently good team, what do you guys think?

hey I might be crazy or completely off the mark, but what would you all think about adding boise state to the big east.... it might help recruiting cause you are guarenteed to play on the smurf turf once every 2 years, seems like a unique thing... idk what do you guys think?

The UC athletic department is running online surveys and in-person focus groups to test several different options for a stadium expansion for Nippert. It would add approximately 10-15,000 seats, and more importantly, they are considering some combination of suites, loge boxes, and loge seats. These would provide numerous amenities, including upgraded food service, private access, etc., the types o ...(more)

Go to Bill Koch's blog at the Enquirer for details. If some of the posts on there are correct, some of the doubters who came on here earlier saying that Lance would never play for UC are going to be eating some crow. And if Lance does play soon? Wow.... this could be the best football/basketball season EVER for UC. We will have an awesome basketball team.
