--Tee Martin was promoted to passing game coordinator after considering other job offers. The offer most worrisome to Kentucky was when Martin considered a position on Alabama's staff. Martin was receivers coach in 2010 and reportedly had his salary boosted to $205,000 under a contract extension.

--New co-defensive coordinator Rick Minter plans to install a 3-4 defensive alignment with one player swinging between linebacker and defensive end depending on situations. The change would take advantage of some versatility on the unit as well as streamline the substitution process.

SPRING SNAPSHOT

Practice priorities: Getting new quarterback Morgan Newton ready, finding new offensive threats and installing a 3-4 defensive alignment head the list of spring duties. Newton needs to progress as a passer and the Wildcats also need to identify players who can make up for the losses of starting receivers Randall Cobb and Chris Matthews and feature running back Derrick Locke. The defensive transition could be a bit bumpy as co-defensive coordinator Rick Minter has indicated the returning personnel doesn't fully mesh with the new scheme.
