THIS WEEK'S GAME: LSU at Florida, Oct. 9 -- Both teams need to win to keep their division title hopes alive, but the Tigers are even more desperate to turn their season around at this point. To win, they'll have to do a much better job against the pass than they did against Auburn and Georgia.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
QBs JaMarcus Russell and Marcus Randall -- They continue to share the quarterback job with mixed results. LSU is ranked third in the SEC in passing, with 232 yards, 10 touchdowns and only two interceptions, but neither quarterback has proven to be consistently effective or productive. Maybe it's time to give one a chance and see what he can do.
CBs Corey Webster and Travis Daniels -- LSU's senior cornerbacks are supposed to be the backbone of an aggressive defense, but both got burned for big plays and touchdowns by Georgia last week. Look for LSU to either change up its blitzes or its secondary schemes, or both, against Florida's passing attack.
DE Marcus Spears -- LSU needs its defensive leaders to come up big this week, and that means a bigger game from Spears and the defensive line against both the pass and the run.
Senior Marcus Randall and redshirt freshman JaMarcus Russell continue to share the quarterback job, and even though Russell spent more time with the first-team offense than Randall during practices early this week, LSU coach Nick Saban said that's not a guarantee that Russell will start at Florida. ... Saban said WR Dwayne Bowe (ankle) and CB Corey Webster (sprained knee) are both "day-to-day" for the Florida game. Look for both to play if possible, simply because they are both key players and the Tigers have an open date next week. Senior CB Ronnie Prude struggled when he replaced Webster in the loss to Auburn. ... LSU will turn to true freshman Early Doucet, injured sophomore Craig Davis (shoulder) and injured junior Skyler Green (ankle) without Bowe.
