Tigers report: Notes, quotes

Notes, quotes · Inside slant · Strategy and personnel

SCOUTING THE OFFENSE
JaMarcus Russell started at QB against Florida but it was senior Marcus Randall who took over and led the Tigers from a 21-7 deficit to a 24-21 victory. The Tigers got some big plays from Randall and RB Joseph Addai and drove for the winning touchdown in the final minute, but they still need to cut back on turnovers and mistakes. With 15 turnovers, they lead the SEC.

SCOUTING THE DEFENSE
The Tigers are fourth in the SEC in pass defense, allowing only 164.8 yards per game, but they've also allowed 11 TD passes, tied for worst in the SEC. Five of those TD passes came against Georgia. Despite giving up a few big plays the Tigers remain among the top defenses in the SEC in several categories and held Florida scoreless in the second half of last week's comeback victory.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I don't think there's any difference in the way he's running. I think there's a little difference in how he feels about himself and the confidence that he's playing with right now." -- LSU coach Nick Saban on sophomore tailback Justin Vincent, who rushed for 1,001 yards and 10 touchdowns last year and has only 225 yards and two touchdowns this season.
