Tigers report: Strategy and personnel

Strategy and personnel · Inside slant · Notes, quotes

THIS WEEK'S GAME: Vanderbilt at LSU, Oct. 30 -- While this is the kind of game LSU should and probably will win, the Tigers also showed last week that they are still capable of helping inferior teams hang around by committing turnovers and not forcing any of their own. The Tigers need to do more than win this game. They also need to get their running game moving, take care of the ball and create extra opportunities for the offense.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
QB Marcus Randall -- Randall played an entire game last week, despite throwing three interceptions against Troy. He overcame his mistakes by completing 24 of 37 passes for a career-best 328 yards and the game-winning touchdown with 2:18 left in the game.

DE Marcus Spears -- Spears has been a force for LSU for most of the season but it really showed in the stats against Troy last week as he led LSU with nine tackles, including six for losses totaling 34 yards and two sacks. He also had a pass breakup.

ROSTER REPORT
The Tigers survived the Troy game without any major injuries, but RB Joseph Addai and DE Melvin Oliver will play a limited role in practice this week while they prepare for the Vandy game.
