Tigers report: Inside slant
LSU coach Les Miles put the North Texas game in its proper perspective before the Tigers took the field on Saturday night.
"He gave us a speech today about Tigers eating," safety Craig Steltz said. "He said it doesn't matter if you're going eat Bambi or a water buffalo the Tigers are going to eat something."
After spending their previous two games feeding on critical SEC victories over Florida and Auburn, the Tigers gorged themselves on a 56-3 victory over North Texas.
Backup running backs Shyrone Carry and Justin Vincent combined for three touchdown runs and backup quarterback Matt Flynn three for three second-half touchdown passes as the Tigers wasted little time putting the game away and emptying the bench.
Next up: a similar feast against Division I-AA Appalachian State before the seventh-ranked Tigers (6-1) turn their attention to Alabama on Nov. 12.
"It was a good win for the team," linebacker E.J. Kuale said. "It was a real good win for our second team and third team because they got a chance to get in the game.
"It was a real good win for our team because we prepared for North Texas like they were the No. 1 team in the country, so we're going to prepare for Appalachian State like they are the No. 1 team in the country. All in all it was a good week."
