HEAD COACH
John Bunting, sixth year at UNC, 24-36 with Tar Heels.

MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER
RB Ronnie McGill -- McGill showed his toughness in playing seven games and leading the team in rushing (530 yards) after originally being declared out for the 2005 season with a pulled chest muscle. He will be a key figure in the offense.

BREAKOUT STAR
WR Jesse Holley -- In a league full of star wideouts, there's a tendency to overlook Holley. But he showed he rates among the league's elite with his performance in 2005 (47-460).

NEWCOMER TO WATCH
QB Joe Dailey -- If the Tar Heels are to get back to a bowl, the Nebraska transfer must assert himself as a leader and capable passer.

PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP
Offense -- QB Joe Dailey, TB Ronnie McGill, FB Nick Starcevic, WR Jesse Holley, WR Brandon Tate, TE Jon Hamlett, LT Brian Chacos, LG Charlston Gray, C Ben Lemming, RG Kyle Jolley, RT Garrett Reynolds.

Defense - DE Brian Rackley, DT Shelton Bynum, DT Kyndraus Guy, DE Kentwan Balmer, LB Larry Edwards, LB Durell Mapp, LB Victor Worsley, CB Jacoby Watkins, CB Quinton Person, SS Trimane Goddard, FS Kareen Taylor.

ROSTER REPORT
DE Khalif Mitchell will not play this fall because of off-the-field issues. Mitchell will not be enrolled in school but will have the opportunity to return in 2007. A junior, Mitchell started two games as a freshman and played in all 11 games as a sophomore last fall, recording 13 tackles and recovering two fumbles.

--Sophomore TB Antwain Carey, who scored the decisive touchdown for the Blue team in the spring game, has given up his football scholarship to devote his time to track.

--LB Jarrell Miller, an incoming freshman from Highland Springs, Va., will delay his enrollment until January because of family concerns.

--Bruce Carter, a versatile performer who played QB, S, and RB at Havelock, N.C., also will delay his enrollment while recovering from a knee injury.

--DB LeCount Fantroy of Washington D.C., will play at Milford Prep in Connecticut this fall and could enroll in January.

I stumbled across this on the net. Im from the UK and a Niner fan.

However I found out that T J Yates is the starting QB of a college football team. I don't think ive ever watched a college games as it isnt on the telly over here. Given my name is N J Yates I wondered if T J Yates is good enough to play in the NFL?

Thanks

I know its ACC football and anything can happen any week in this league. But how do we look so good for a month and then play down to an inferior team. Now we all have to deal with hearing State fans say "were better than you" when we know and they know its not true, but what do you say? We lost. We play up to our competition one week, and down the next. Sure, I dont think Yates is the answer to b ...(more)

Yes, I know it's early but I want all of us to have a Wonderful Thanksgiving and they take a big bite our of the Wool Pack.  They are scared to death of having to play us this Saturday at Noon to be broadcast on ESPN2.  Now that's the network today and the advertised time.  We all know this could change before Kick Off.

We owe the pack for allowing the Tar Heel

Apparently Butch is on the short list of coaches for the ND job.  This would be terrible for the program.  Has anyone heard anything else about this?

One thing that Butch Davis has brought to UNC is defensive intensity. Defense has been the anchor of the Tarheels season. The way this defense has been playing we could easily be 10-1 or even 10-0. We should not have lost to Florida State or Virgina. I'll take the Georgia Tech loss but if the offense had shown up just a little bit the game would have been closer or even had a different outcome. ...(more)

Like I said earlier this year, we need a new coach .. 0-3 vs. State isn't going to cut it.

We also need a black QB and we'll be set .. or a christian QB like Tebow, then we'll do just fine.

Our Tar Heels are 8 and 3.  We've matched last season record even if we lose to State and have a Bowl Loss.  That would put us at 8 - 5, the same as last year.

So, we have to chance to go to 10 - 3 if we beat NC State and win a bowl game.  10 - 3 puts us back to challange for the ACC title next year.

My have we grown.  Kudos to Butch Davis and his staff an

Prior to the season UNC was in the top 25 in the nation.  After a few bumps, they were put out.  That I can see.

Today / Now, we win 3 in a row and beat 2 top 15 teams (Duke the other win) and we do not get into the top 25.  How can this be?  This is not right.

At this rate we would have to win the last 2 games (we will) just to be voted into the top 25.&n

This season is far from over!!!  We have to close it with the destruction of NC State.  Last years loss still hurts!!!

In order to get revenge and close out a good year, destroy State.  When that's done lets win the ***** Bowl game.

With 2 more wins that would swing some iffy recruits to the Heels.

The "D" is awesome, keep it up!!!!&

We totally dominated Miami in the first half. 20-7 at halftime. The defense played an excellent game, but they were almost overcome by fatigue again because of the offense inability to get first downs and move the ball. Watching the second half I kept seeing the Florida State game replayed over and over in my mind. We we outscored 17-13 in the second half. I know we blame the line at times but yes ...(more)

This week the Tarheels go on the road to face a Boston College team that has been much better at home than away. Both teams are heading to postseason play and the Eagles still have a slim chance to make the ACC championship game if they can win out, and UVA pulls off an upset of Clemson later on Saturday afternoon. BC picked up it's first road win of the season last week against Virginia, an ...(more)

This weeks game is not only very important for this years football team but also years to come. We will have some big time recruits for this weeks game and hopefully we can land a few of them. Coach davis has done a great job with our football program so far and that has started with better recruiting. There will be several 4 and 5 star players there for the game like Wayne Dorsey, Brandon Willis, ...(more)
