HEAD COACH
John Bunting, sixth year at UNC, 24-36 with Tar Heels.

MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER
RB Ronnie McGill -- McGill showed his toughness in playing seven games and leading the team in rushing (530 yards) after originally being declared out for the 2005 season with a pulled chest muscle. He will be a key figure in the offense.

BREAKOUT STAR
WR Jesse Holley -- In a league full of star wideouts, there's a tendency to overlook Holley. But he showed he rates among the league's elite with his performance in 2005 (47-460).

NEWCOMER TO WATCH
QB Joe Dailey -- If the Tar Heels are to get back to a bowl, the Nebraska transfer must assert himself as a leader and capable passer.

PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP
Offense -- QB Joe Dailey, TB Ronnie McGill, FB Nick Starcevic, WR Jesse Holley, WR Brandon Tate, TE Jon Hamlett, LT Brian Chacos, LG Charlston Gray, C Ben Lemming, RG Kyle Jolley, RT Garrett Reynolds.

Defense - DE Brian Rackley, DT Shelton Bynum, DT Kyndraus Guy, DE Kentwan Balmer, LB Larry Edwards, LB Durell Mapp, LB Victor Worsley, CB Jacoby Watkins, CB Quinton Person, SS Trimane Goddard, FS Kareen Taylor.

ROSTER REPORT
DE Khalif Mitchell will not play this fall because of off-the-field issues. Mitchell will not be enrolled in school but will have the opportunity to return in 2007. A junior, Mitchell started two games as a freshman and played in all 11 games as a sophomore last fall, recording 13 tackles and recovering two fumbles.

--Sophomore TB Antwain Carey, who scored the decisive touchdown for the Blue team in the spring game, has given up his football scholarship to devote his time to track.

--LB Jarrell Miller, an incoming freshman from Highland Springs, Va., will delay his enrollment until January because of family concerns.

--Bruce Carter, a versatile performer who played QB, S, and RB at Havelock, N.C., also will delay his enrollment while recovering from a knee injury.

--DB LeCount Fantroy of Washington D.C., will play at Milford Prep in Connecticut this fall and could enroll in January.

It's here.  The only game of the season that counts every year.  With all respect to "Da Huvster", a dookie does not post the game day thread on the CAROLINA Boards.  A Tar Heel does that.  And the dookies have a lot more respect than last year when they missed a 25 yar ...(more)

Just read that Shaun is out for the year with this shoulder injury.  Wanted to see what everyone thinks about this.  I tihnk this is a pretty tough injury to take.  The running game has been solid the past couple of weeks using Draughn and Houston.  Right when we were starting to get everyone back healthy, our top rusher is out for the season.  They must have mis-diagnosed ...(more)

Should be a good one.  We beat UVA, you lost to UVA, we both played VT close, but you guys cam away with the win.  Our QB is great, lets just call TJ Yates sub par.  Our running game is horrible, Draughn is one of the best backs in the ACC.  This will be a very good game, but since it's in Chapel Hill I think you guys have a slight edge.  You could argue that Duke and UNC ...(more)

Well here we go, Thursday is rolling around again and that means the Tarheels will be playing again in a little over 48 hours. I have read what all of you have posted this week following the FSU loss. I can tell some of you are very upset and frustrated, and I can certainly understand how you feel even if I don't agree with everything you post. First off, I agree that the coaching staff blew ...(more)

Yates has not been very good this year at QB. It is time for a change before it is too late. We now have to win 4 of our last 5 games to even qualify for a bowl bid. Yates first pass was 10 feet over the guys head and why that pass that was intercepted when we were running so well?

Walk down our Lane? We just did baby, and it was a very enjoyable walk. We have been close the past two years and finally got over the hump.

Unfortunately now you look at the UVA and last week's game and say we could be 3-1 in the ACC. But lets just enjoy this one

With the O-line struggling in depth this year, I think it's time to shake things up a little. I think everyone will agree that TJ Yates is one of the most efficient passers in college AS LONG AS he has plenty of time to throw. Well, with the struggles up front he's getting flushed out of the pocket every time he drops back to pass and Shaun Draughn is getting absolutely no holes to work with ...(more)

Well it is our 2nd Thursday night in as many weeks.  Last week we showed we could play with a good program, but we failed to stay with Fla State in their comeback to beat us by 3 points.  It will be tough quitening the loud boisterous Hokie crowd if they get ahdead of us early.  I feet T.J. Yates needs to continue his running game attack and incorporate a lot more passing that ...(more)

Despicable. Terrible. Complete crap. What other words can you use to describe Carolina's performance against FSU tonight? "The #1 passing defense" gives up about 400 yards and 3 touchdowns? The Heels offense only generates 3 points in the final 25 minutes of the game against one of the worst defenses in the entire country? Everyone associated with UNC football should be embarrassed. As a ...(more)

I went searching and saw no one had started, so here it is.  I am excited to be able to see the Heels out of the Carolina viewing area.  Our Carolina Panthers started the kill Fla week with a victory at Tampoon Bay.  Now it is up to our Heels to continue.

I think our defense can play with anyone when clicking, however they can not stay of the field for 48 minutes a

WE WERE OUT-COACHED TONIGHT. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

BOBBY BOWDEN WOULD HAVE WENT FOR IT AND CONVERTED ON 4TH DOWN IF IT WAS HIS TEAM.

WHEN DOWN BY 3 POINTS AND LESS THEN 5 MINUTES,YOU DON'T PUNT THE BALL ON 4TH AND SHORT INSIDE YOUR OPPONENTS 50 YARDLINE WHEN YOUR DEFENSE HASN'T STOPPED THEIR OFFENSE THE ENTIRE 2ND HALF. ...(more)

The renovations are in order to tear down the old field house on the south side of Kennan Stadium. The university will be adding club seats, luxury boxes, and a new state of the art learning center. I must admit, although the prospect of completing seating capacity 360 degrees around the field does sound exciting, I am not ashamed to say how much I miss the original Keenan Stadium. Remember, the o ...(more)
