HEAD COACH John Bunting, sixth year at UNC, 24-36 with Tar Heels.
MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER RB Ronnie McGill -- McGill showed his toughness in playing seven games and leading the team in rushing (530 yards) after originally being declared out for the 2005 season with a pulled chest muscle. He will be a key figure in the offense.
BREAKOUT STAR WR Jesse Holley -- In a league full of star wideouts, there's a tendency to overlook Holley. But he showed he rates among the league's elite with his performance in 2005 (47-460).
NEWCOMER TO WATCH QB Joe Dailey -- If the Tar Heels are to get back to a bowl, the Nebraska transfer must assert himself as a leader and capable passer.
PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP Offense -- QB Joe Dailey, TB Ronnie McGill, FB Nick Starcevic, WR Jesse Holley, WR Brandon Tate, TE Jon Hamlett, LT Brian Chacos, LG Charlston Gray, C Ben Lemming, RG Kyle Jolley, RT Garrett Reynolds.
Defense - DE Brian Rackley, DT Shelton Bynum, DT Kyndraus Guy, DE Kentwan Balmer, LB Larry Edwards, LB Durell Mapp, LB Victor Worsley, CB Jacoby Watkins, CB Quinton Person, SS Trimane Goddard, FS Kareen Taylor.
ROSTER REPORT DE Khalif Mitchell will not play this fall because of off-the-field issues. Mitchell will not be enrolled in school but will have the opportunity to return in 2007. A junior, Mitchell started two games as a freshman and played in all 11 games as a sophomore last fall, recording 13 tackles and recovering two fumbles.
--Sophomore TB Antwain Carey, who scored the decisive touchdown for the Blue team in the spring game, has given up his football scholarship to devote his time to track.
--LB Jarrell Miller, an incoming freshman from Highland Springs, Va., will delay his enrollment until January because of family concerns.
--Bruce Carter, a versatile performer who played QB, S, and RB at Havelock, N.C., also will delay his enrollment while recovering from a knee injury.
--DB LeCount Fantroy of Washington D.C., will play at Milford Prep in Connecticut this fall and could enroll in January.

Sad news today according to scout.com DT Darrius Massenburg career has ended do to injuries. You never wont to see this happen to anyone, hope he recovers fast and enjoys the rest of his time at Carolina.
I have heard a rumor that UNC could begin the season by Playing LSU in the Georgia Dome to begin the 2010 season. I am not sure how good either team would be at that time, but it does seem like an interesting matchup.
Hey everyone, haven't seen much recruiting news up so wanted to start a season long recruiting thread for the 2010 class. Butch has already hauled in three commitments and is adding some depth to the OLine with with outta the three being big uglies. Here is the commitment list so far, things seem to be shaping up well. 5* #2 OT James Hurst3* #6 C Russell Bodine3* #47 OLB Ty Linton

For those posters who weren't around the main CBS board last year, a group of football fans, angry about the BCS, got together and formed The Best D*** Poll in the Land to give the fans a voice in the top 25 voting system. Last year, TBDPITL had 40 solid members who turned in their top 25 picks every week, and posted them on the boards for all to see. All ballots were counted and

A very good draft for the Tarheels. This sort of thing will play into the minds of future recruits. The NFL 2009 Draft will enhance our ability to bring in Top Rated players.
With another strong showing this year (beat State at their house by 21) in the ACC (Conf Title Game, win or lose) and the BCS standings the program will remain strong for years to come.
It's so sad to hear about a great guy like Cam Sexton plans to leave North Carolina for Catawba College and play football for his senior year. He plans to graduate from Catawba College as well. It's awful to see such a classy guy like Cam. A guy who stepped into TJ Yate's shoes and just play football and having a good time. He lead us to a very big victory over Notre Dam
I was just thinking looking at all of these off-season incidents that wouldn't it be great if previous head coach John Bunting came back to be the Assistant Head Coach or another position. I wouldn't want him to be Head Coach with all do respect, but I think it be great for him to come back to the program and serve under Butch. I love Butch Davis just as much as the next guy, but I was
