Hal Mumme's first year at the helm at New Mexico State was a difficult one.
The Aggies went 0-12 and rarely were in the game in the fourth quarter.
Their most winnable game was a 38-37, double-overtime loss to Idaho. It was a game the Aggies easily could have won about four times, but they managed to make a critical mistake each time.
The season was complicated by the changeover from Tony Samuel's option offense to Mumme's Air Raid offense. Meshing personnel from the vastly different offenses was a challenge.
