KEY LOSSES
It won't be easy to replace WRs Gerald Jones or Denarius Moore, who reminded everyone down the stretch how good they are when they have a quarterback to get them the ball down the field. TE Luke Stocker has a chance to be a 10-year NFL player because he can catch the ball and be physical in the running game. Defensively, MLB Nick Reveiz made the most of his physical abilities and was as tough mentally as any player in the program since Peyton Manning.

PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2011:

QB Tyler Bray -- Like Maverick in Top Gun, Bray succeeded in spite of not knowing what he didn't know. As in sometimes making the wrong read and getting the best result -- i.e.: A throw into double coverage for a touchdown. Can Bray improve his decision-making while maintaining the swashbuckling style that breathed life into the offense?

WR Justin Hunter -- A world-class long jumper who could be a 2012 Olympian, Hunter might also be an NFL star by the middle of the decade. The 6-foot-5 sophomore can go up and win deep passes in the air and also blow by cornerbacks on go patterns, making him a man who can put fright in a defensive coordinator's heart.

DE Malik Jackson -- The Southern California transfer demonstrated in November why he started there in the first place, getting to the passer at will and making plays to get the defense off the field. Can Jackson do it for a whole season and against good teams as well as bad?

FS Janzen Jackson -- Compared to Eric Berry by some, Jackson now needs to prove he can be as reliable as the 2009 All-America on and off the field. He can make big plays but is also prone to mistakes and still doesn't show great judgment off the field. To follow Berry's path into the NFL, Jackson must marry consistency to his brilliant skills.

PLAYER NOTES

--LB Herman Lathers (shoulder) underwent surgery on Jan. 17 and will probably be limited for spring practice, if he goes at all. Lathers was second on the team last year with 75 tackles while starting 12 of 13 games.

--C James Stone was named to a pair of freshman All-America teams following the season. The 6-4, 295-pound Stone now faces a challenge in spring practice, where the left-hander will likely have to learn how to snap with his right hand. Stone played guard most of last year before moving to center following a wave of injuries.
