The Blazers did not allow any sacks and allowed only two tackles in the backfield for a total of minus-5 yards.
LB Keon Harris finished second on the team with eight tackles, including one tackle for loss, and also recovered a fumble and had two quarterback hurries.
P/K Swayze Waters averaged 45.0 yards on six punts, including a career-best 65-yarder in the third quarter, and drilled both field-goal attempts (both 38 yards). He is 7-for-9 this season on field goals.
STILL NEEDS WORK
The Blazers came into the game as the nation's No. 35 rushing offense at 189 yards per game, but were held to 67 yards by the Gamecocks.
UAB committed seven penalties for 55 yards in the first quarter and finished with nine flags for 75 yards. In fact, the penalty yards in the opening quarter nearly matched South Carolina's total offense in the period (79 yards).
The Blazers turned the ball over on three consecutive possessions in the second half with a fumble by Justin Brooks late in the third quarter and back-to-back interceptions to start the fourth quarter.
--DT Tim Davis returned to the starting lineup and had two tackles after missing two games with an undisclosed injury. RB Aaron Johns was on the sidelines with a foot injury for the second straight game.
--WR Frantrell Forrest, the team's leading receiver with 25 catches for 335 yards, did not play. He returned to Mobile due to the death of his grandmother.
--First-time starters for the Blazers in the South Carolina contest included LB Lamanski Ware, DE Anthony Barnes and RB Justin Brooks.
