Huskies report: Strategy and personnel
LOOKING GOOD
RB Chris Polk continues to shine, getting 104 yards on 18 carries, his second 100-yard game of the season, despite getting minimal help from his offensive line. However, he also lost a fumble in the third quarter that led to an Oregon touchdown.
K Erik Folk hit both of his attempts and is now 12-for-14 on the season. He is already closing in on the top-10 list for the most field goals in a season (16 is the 10th spot) in school history.
LB Mason Foster continues to play well and had a sack for a loss of 16 yards among his eight tackles.
STILL NEEDS WORK
The special teams were a disaster, as Washington had a punt blocked, gave up a fake field goal and a two-point conversion on a gadget play. Washington's special teams have struggled much of the season aside from the kicking of Folk.
Washington's offensive line was dominated by a quicker, faster Oregon front seven and didn't give QB Jake Locker much time nor provide many openings for the running backs.
The Washington defense gave up 416 yards, the fifth straight week the Huskies have allowed that many or more. And opponents are doing it through the air and rushing, as the Huskies have allowed 250 or more rushing yards in three of the past six games, and 295 or more passing in three of the last four.
ROSTER REPORT
--DT Cameron Elisara sat out the game with continuing problems with a stinger. He could be back for the UCLA game Nov. 7.
--LB E.J. Savannah again broke a thumb that has bothered him all season, but he likely will have it recasted and continue to play.
--TB Chris Polk continues to battle both shoulder and ankle problems, and he sat out for one key stretch in the second quarter when the Huskies couldn't get the ball in with a first down from the 4. But he returned later and said he should be good after the bye.
--G Nick Wood left for a while with a stinger and was replaced by redshirt freshman Mykenna Ikehara, who saw the first significant action of his career.
--WR Jordan Polk missed the game with a knee injury but should be back for the UCLA trip.
