Former 5-star wide receiver Ambles lands at Houston

Markeith Ambles, a one-time five-star wide receiver recruit who began his college career at USC in 2010, signed with the University of Houston Monday morning, a source told CBS.

The 6-foot-3 Ambles, who played in 2012 in junior college at Arizona Western, will arrive at Houston this summer and will be eligible this fall. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

While at USC, Ambles, an Atlanta native, battled maturity issues. He was also declared academically ineligible for the 2011 season before he ultimately left Los Angeles after catching one pass for three yards in 2010.

At Houston, he will not be the only former five-star wideout on the Cougars roster. Deontay Greenberry, a one-time blue-chipper who had been committed to Notre Dame, made the All-Freshmen team in Conference USA last season after leading the league with 47 receptions for 569 yards and three TDs.
