Mora withdraws from consideration for Texas job

UCLA head coach Jim Mora has withdrawn from consideration for the University of Texas job. Mora was never offered the job, a source told ESPN reported Thursday that university representatives had reached out to Mora and were "very interested" in the Bruins coach.

Mora appears entrenched in Los Angeles -- an area he and his family love -- for the forseeable future.

The 52-year-old head coach is 19-8 in two years with the Bruins, including a 10-3 finish and a rout of Virginia Tech in the Sun Bowl earlier this week.

Earlier Friday, another rumored Longhorns candidate -- Baylor head coach Art Briles -- reaffirmed his commitment to the Bears program.

Bruce Feldman is a senior writer for and college football commentator for CBS Sports Network. He is a New York Times Bestselling author, who has written books including Swing Your Sword, Meat Market and Cane Mutiny. Prior to joining CBS, Feldman spent 17 years at ESPN.
