BCS meetings agenda, topics, talking points this week

PASADENA, Calif. -- We have agenda items for this week's BCS meetings.

(Disclaimer: Commissioners can change their minds at any minute, so take these as a guide, not a textbook.)

Tuesday: We should get the name of the new playoff system. It won't be sexy. In fact, it might be kind of mundane. But it won't be "BCS" and that's a good thing.

My favorites:

National Championship Series.

Melissa McCarthy presents My Big Fat College Football Playoff.

Jeremy Fowler.

Wednesday: We should get the announcement for the three "host" bowls to go along with the Orange, Rose and Sugar. The overwhelming favorites are the Fiesta, Cotton and Chick-fil-A.

We might also get the site of the first championship game on Jan. 12, 2015. Everyone expects Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Everyone except, perhaps, Tampa.

Thursday: Meetings wrap up. It would be nice to get some information on the selection committee but, for now, the commissioners have a lot of work to do. We're told the committee will be something like 15-20 folks. No matter what, their lives will be changed forever because of the scrutiny.

Is the coaches' poll in danger?

Anyone in need of a credential from all the BCS title games? Dennis Dodd has them. In three decades in the business, he's covered everything from the Olympics to Stanley Cup to conference realignment. Just get him on campus in a press box in the fall. His heart lies with college football.
