North Carolina-South Carolina game suspended

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The North Carolina-South Carolina game was suspended because of the threat of lighting midway through the fourth quarter.

The No. 6 Gamecocks led 27-10 with 8:20 left. The game was stopped at 8:46 p.m. ET

Officials said lightning had been spotted within eight miles of Williams-Brice Stadium. The 80,000-seat stadium was evacuated. There was no indication Thursday night when the season opener for both teams might resume.
