USC using search firm for football hire

USC athletic director Pat Haden is expected to use Jed Hughes of Korn/Ferry International -- which reportedly is conducting the Texas athletic director search -- to help hire a football coach, three industry sources said.

Hughes also helped the New York Jets hire general manager John Idzik in January.

USC spokesman Tim Tessalone said via email Haden had said he'd use a search firm's help but didn't specify the name of the firm.

Haden has a head start on hiring a coach after firing Lane Kiffin in late September.
