The succession plan for A.J. McCarron begins in earnest.

Former Florida State quarterback Jacob Coker is visiting Alabama this weekend, according to a source. The Tuscaloosa News reported the Coker visit Friday evening.

Coker, a 6-foot-5, pro-style quarterback out of Mobile who reportedly didn't get an offer from Alabama in 2011, pushed Jameis Winston for the starting job in fall camp. Colleague Bruce Feldman highlighted Coker's abilities a few weeks ago.

Alabama shouldn't let Coker slip out of the state a second time.

Coker is free to transfer and is set to graduate this spring, meaning he'll have two years of eligibility left starting in the fall.
