Michigan lands coveted USC transfer RB Ty Isaac

Former USC running back Ty Isaac committed to Michigan after his visit to the campus this week, sources told CBSSports.com on Wednesday evening.

Isaac already has begun working through the admissions process with the school, according to a source.

Isaac tweeted Thursday morning that he'll play football in Ann Arbor.

Isaac is from Joliet, Ill., and wants to play closer to his ill mother. He visited Illinois last week. Isaac's mother reportedly has had complications stemming from a recent surgical procedure to correct hearing loss.

The former five-star recruit in 2013 scored a pair of touchdowns and recorded 236 yards on 40 carries for the Trojans.

As a hardship waiver candidate because of his family circumstance, Isaac could be eligible in 2014 but must be approved by the NCAA.

Michigan could pair Isaac (6-3, 225) with another top back from the 2013 recruiting class, Derrick Green. De'Veon Smith also expects to be a factor in Michigan's backfield.
