Pittsburgh names Chad Voytik starting quarterback

Pittsburgh head coach Paul Chryst has named Chad Voytik the team's starting QB heading into the 2014 season, a source told CBSSports.com.

The 6-1, 205-pound Voytik played in four games as a backup to Tom Savage last season, completing 6 of 11 passes for 116 yards. He played the second half of the team's 30-27 win over Bowling Green in the Little Caesars Bowl, relieving an injured Savage (now with the Houston Texans) and rushing for a touchdown.

The Panthers, who were 7-6 last season, open the 2014 season against Delaware on Aug. 30.
