Projections: Texas, Fresno St. are in BCS; Clemson moves up in playoff

This week's bowl projection has a brand new Fiesta Bowl matchup. Texas replaces Oklahoma State as the Big 12 champion. That league is projected to finish in a three-way tie (Oklahoma is part of it as well), and that tiebreaker changed with this week's action. The Cowboys drop out of the BCS, while the Sooners still show up as an at-large selection.

Boise State dropped out of the BCS projection with a resounding thud after a 38-6 loss at Washington, which was the Broncos' worst loss with Chris Petersen as coach. Fresno State, which needed overtime to beat Rutgers, now projects into the BCS. Northern Illinois beat Iowa this week and could be in contention as well.

As for our projected playoff this week, Alabama and Ohio State remain the top two seeds, with Oregon hanging on to No. 3. Clemson takes over the fourth spot from Stanford after beating Georgia 38-35 on Saturday. That gives us four conference champions, which would make the selection committee's job pretty easy. The new playoff/bowl matchups would look like this:

Sugar Bowl: No. 1 Alabama vs No. 4 Clemson

Rose Bowl: No. 2 Ohio State vs No. 3 Oregon

Cotton Bowl: Texas A&M vs Oklahoma State

Orange Bowl: South Carolina vs Florida State

Fiesta Bowl: Stanford vs LSU

Chick-fil-A Bowl: Georgia vs Louisville
