I've got a few nits to pick with AP's All-Pro team selections

The Associated Press All-Pro teams were announced Saturday, and the 50 voters -- yes, I am one of them -- did some strange things. Among the things that caught my eye:

No right tackles. When will they fix this? Left and right tackles are two entirely different positions, and yet every year the first team is made up of all left tackles. This season, it's the Texans' Duane Brown and the Broncos' Ryan Clady. I voted for the Bengals' Andre Smith, a real right tackle, to go with Brown.

How is Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata on the (second) team? Why not just put Ray Lewis there, too? Ngata fought through injuries this season, and he clearly hasn't played at an All-Pro level since 2010. The Buccaneers' Gerald McCoy was ripped off with that reputation pick.

Why is Lions receiver Calvin Johnson not unanimous? Really?

More on the NFL

The Seahawks' Max Unger was named the starting center even though I went with the Dolphins' Mike Pouncey. I can understand that, but how is the Steelers' Maurkice Pouncey on the second team ahead of his brother? That one makes no sense.

Chargers safety Eric Weddle didn't make the Pro Bowl, and he isn't on the first-team All-Pro. He was second team. He should be first. The 49ers' Dashon Goldson didn't have a Weddle season.

Mike Iupati started off the well playing left guard for the 49ers, but he had some so-so games. There is no way he had a better season than Philadelphia's Evan Mathis. Yes, the Eagles' line stunk, but Mathis played well.

Why are there two running backs and a fullback on the team and only two receivers? The way the game is played now, it should be one back, one fullback and three receivers.

It's also time to start picking an All-Pro nickel corner. That player is on the field more than the third linebacker on most teams.

Poor Tom Brady. He isn't even good enough to make the second team.

I still think 49ers left tackle Joe Staley, who made the second team, is overrated. Good, not great.

Jets corner Antonio Cromartie should have been on one of the first two teams. He played that well when Darrelle Revis went down. Of course, all anyone paid attention to was the QB circus with the Jets.
