Come on Joakim, you're too cool for this
Nobody was calling Noah a jerk, or a compound word that is less flattering, last season. But last season, Noah wasn't playing that ugly "us against the world" card. Last year, he blew kisses and winked at a UCLA cheerleader when she said he was ugly. This year, he took a petulant swipe at a Kentucky cheerleader who shook her pom-pom in his face after he landed near her under the basket. This year, he tried to grab the ball from Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings and then had words with Stallings when the Vandy coach refused to be treated so disrespectfully by an opposing player.
Now Noah is making up stuff from nowhere, claiming the world hates Florida, the media hates Florida, and apparently UCLA has no respect for Florida either.
"I've already heard (UCLA) say some things," Noah vaguely told the Miami Herald. "You're going to talk trash to the media? That's pretty easy to do. But there's no lying when you step between the lines. So be careful what you wish for, buddy."
This is sad. Last March, with his riffs on international politics and Arthur Ashe, Noah elevated college basketball into something thoughtful. This March, with his inane posturing, he has turned college basketball into professional wrestling.
"There was so much hating. You guys (in the media) tried to divide us," he told the Washington Post. "What are you going to say if we win two more games? What are you going to say?"
Not sure, Joakim. So be careful what you wish for, buddy.
