About grit? Love has it -- and plenty more NBA attributes

Hansbrough is good -- very good -- but all of the pushing and shoving he's doing now won't happen in the NBA. Everyone will be just as strong if not stronger than Hansbrough. Love will be better equipped to knock heads.

Second, Love possesses a more natural shooting touch. You know you've been propagandized when you hear repeatedly how Hansbrough has been working in the gym 4,000 hours per week on his mid-range jumper while simultaneously saving all of the starving kids in Africa and rescuing the Dalai Lama. Or how big men his size shouldn't be able to make the shots he does (the same jumpers big men have been making for decades. You know. Guys like Bill Walton.)

Then you see what Love does. A guy his size really isn't supposed to hit the three consecutive circus shots he made last week during UCLA practice. Did you see those? First attempt from halfcourt. Swish. Then three-quarters. Swish. Then full court. Swish. Each shot began with a quick flick showing that massive Unseld-like upper body strength.

I'm not so sure how much Love works at his offensive skill set. He might work at it extensively and he might not. I just know it's better than Hansbrough's. It's extremely fluid and natural. Hansbrough = Corky Calhoun. The latter was an energetic, versatile and gritty -- there's that word again -- star for Penn and was drafted fourth overall in 1972. Once in the pros he was overwhelmed by the athleticism and speed of the sport.

But there will be a bamboozled general manager who will get hooked by the Hansbrough hype like a trout on a taught line and draft him higher than he should be. You can count on it.

Meanwhile the other guy will be Kevin Love Unseld, which isn't half bad at all.
