Here's why: Ricky "Pass the Dutchie on the left-hand side" Williams.
Who knows what Williams will do? He could start smoking the good stuff again. He might quit and study yoga. Here is what we do know. When Williams and Brown were together in 2005, they combined for more than 1,600 yards rushing. It was the second most in team history during the past 13 seasons.
"We worked pretty well together," said Brown. And it's possible they could duplicate those sorts of numbers again.
You start saying I've been smoking with Ricky in three, two, one ...
Maybe, just maybe, Williams is finally off the wacky weed.
With luck on their side -- and Lord knows the Dolphins are due some -- the duo might be able to reignite what they did three years ago.
If you don't have faith in Williams -- and you should only have but a smidge worth -- it's OK to believe in Brown. Remember, before he was injured in 2007 he was leading the league in total yards from scrimmage. There was little doubt he was on his way to a big year.
He has demonstrated an outstanding work ethic while recovering from his injury. Brown spoke to other runners who went through similar surgery -- James was one of them -- and they gave him advice on how to best recover.
The main thing they said?
"Don't expect your knee to be the way it was right away," Brown explained. "It takes some time. The good news for me is that the rehab has gone really well. My flexibility is back and I should be ready for training camp."
If the knee holds up and Williams eases off the bong hits then don't be shocked if the Dolphins are better than you think.
And no, I'm not smoking a thing.
