Mike's Malicious Mail: Gators fans agree with me? Is the world ending?

  •

Updated Oct. 10

Florida Gators fans wrote in this week to Kid Malicious.

Normally, when Gator fans write us, there are threats and slurs and promises of ruination and destruction and no presents on Christmas morning. This time, shockingly, it was slightly different.

There were actually Gators fans who -- gulp -- agreed with the column I wrote saying Urban Meyer needs to free Tim Tebow and let the quarterback throw a lot more.

Gator fans agreed with Malicious? What the hell? This proves it's only a matter of time before there is peace in the Middle East.

"Mike, YOU are the MAN!" writes Gators fan Charlie. "I am always amazed when someone in the media gets things so right! Especially this right! I feel exactly the way you do about Urban Meyer and Tebow. I think Tebow is going to blow the roof off the NFL if he is fortunate enough to find a team that halfway understands how to use him."

The media gets things more correct than people want to admit, unless it's Doyel.

"I didn't think it was possible for anyone to be more idiotic than Doyle; however, it appears that you are," writes Jim.

Agreed. No, wait. I mean ...

"You are right on about Mickey Meyer ... except you still myopically believe they will win more championships ..." writes Steve. "The only thing they're going to have more of with Urban is losses starting this week against LSU. The poll question of the day is how many 3 loss seasons will it take to get him fired?"

Meyer will win at least one more title in Florida before he heads to coach the Oakland Raiders in 2010. You read it here first.

Next!

"Mike, he's calling the same plays he called when Tebow won the Heisman," writes Eric of Meyer. "People are just recognizing it and Urban, who is a huuuuge stubborn ass, won't make adjustments."

Is there a difference between a huuuuge stubborn ass and just a garden-variety ass?

"First off, going pro for Tim Tebow or not is his decision, not Urban Meyer's," writes Christopher. "So everything bad you just said about Meyer is YOUR ego working, not Meyer's."

Malicious is extremely humble, though we do resemble Denzel Washington.

This from someone named Giller NYC: "Mike, it's amazing that YOU are not the Florida Gators coach. You seem to have all the answers that they need to succeed. It takes a big set to sit behind a desk and give advice to a proven coach on how he should run his offense. Hope to see you coaching, on any level, soon. It must feel great to know everything."

You have no idea how big my set is, Giller. And despite your obvious desire to know, big fella, you never will.

"First I agree with you ... but man, talk about hate mail!" writes Dan. "You've upset the entire gator nation with that article! lol, even though its true ... watch out."

Watch out for what? Line of people who've come after me starts to the right and winds around the Earth.

"Excellent column regarding Tebow! Keep up the great work!"

Thanks, Mom.

"I couldn't agree with you more Mike abut Tebow," writes Wayne. "Everybody knew including Ole Miss that Tebow was going to run on the 4th and 1 play that ended the Gators hope for a victory. Urban runs Tebow too much, while Tebow is a terrific passer. Did you see some of the throws that he had against UM on the run? Mind boggling to say the least. He has been a good passer for quite a while. He broke all of the state passing records in high school. That record has since been broken, but the kid can throw the ball."

Tebow = Pro Bowl quarterback.

"I've been saying it all along, but nobody listens to me because I don't have the credentials," writes Gatorsfan Phillip, "but we need a NFL offensive coordinator, good article about the Gators, it's very true."

Imagine Tebow with Mike Martz.

"Hello Mike, I am a die-hard Gator fan and I thought your article was dead on and very well written," writes Jason. "I don't drink the Gator (Kool-Aid) and blindly lash out at anyone who would dare write a bad word about the Gators, its coaches or players. I can only hope your message reaches Urban Meyer before it is too late. Keep up the good work."

A rational Gators fan. Who knew?
