Tony Barnhart

Tony Barnhart is a proud native of Union Point, Ga., located about an hour east of Atlanta. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Tony spent seven years at the Greensboro (N.C.) News & Record before joining the Atlanta Journal & Constitution in 1984. In 2008, he stepped down from his full-time position at the AJC to become a freelance sports writer and broadcaster for CBS, the CBS Sports Network, CBSSports.com, and CSS. Tony has his own radio show, Barnhart and Durham, which airs daily in Atlanta on WQXI, 790 The Zone.

Tony was named the Georgia Sports Writer of the Year in 1999. In 2009 he received the Bert McGrane Award, which represents the Football Writers Association of America Hall of Fame.

Tony and his wife, Maria, live in the Atlanta suburb of Dunwoody. Their daughter, Sara Barnhart Fletcher, is an attorney with the Atlanta firm of Wargo & French. Sara has her mother's looks and her mother's brains.
