Cameron Martin

Name: Cameron

Hair: Yes.

Eyes: Green.

Hometown: Stratford, CT.

Grammar school: St. James.

High school: Fairfield Prep, Fairfield, CT.

Best teacher: Paul Hogan.

He awarded me ... second prize in a poem-writing contest senior year.

The poem ... rhymed, yes.

It included ... lyrics and titles from Led Zeppelin.

For winning second prize, Mr. Hogan gave me ... a brand-new copy of the second book in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, even though I'd never read the first.

Why would he do that? He loved the Grateful Dead.

Sports played: basketball, javelin.

Don't think it's a sport? Start running, see if I can hit you.

College: Vanderbilt University, NashVegas, Tennessee.

Major: English.

Took ... seven classes (23 hours of credit) second semester senior year to graduate on time.

It was ... really easy.

Once fell asleep ... during an independent study class, i.e., I was sitting on the opposite side of my teacher's desk -- in his office -- when I keeled over from exhaustion.

I blame ... my friend Whit, who was visiting the entire semester and is likely still there.

I will beat anyone in ... NHL '93.

Drink of choice: Bombay sapphire gin. Will never understand…why they didn't just kill Napoleon after he lost at Waterloo. After the guy came escaped from exile once, wouldn't you put just two in his forehead? Exile again? On another island? Is this where Ian Fleming got all his plot lines for James Bond?

Favorite quote from "Midnight Run": "Jahé, everybody, jahé."

Favorite baseball team: Red Sox. Just because I live in New England and root for the Red Sox, that doesn't mean…I root for the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins or Revolution. In fact ... I pity all those teams.

Favorite football team: Steelers.

Past jobs: Chuck's Steakhouse, Darien, CT, 1989-1993. Greenwich Time and Stamford Advocate newspapers, 1996-2007.

Other sources of income: Comcast Sports Net New England (covering the Red Sox), Barnes & Noble Review (book reviews and such), BugsandCranks.com (baseball), recyclables.
