Simmons was traded to the Angels on Thursday, Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports.

The teams have not confirmed, but Simmons is reportedly joining the Angels with Erick Aybar's expiring contract (after 2016) headed east to take over as the Braves' shortstop. Simmons is a Platinum Glove winner who hit 17 homers in his first full season in the majors, and while he's managed just 11 homers in his last two seasons combined, he makes contact at a high clip and should benefit from a much better lineup around him in Los Angeles.
