The Royals traded Pounders to the Angels on Thursday in exchange for Jared Ruxer.
Big league hitters did a number on Pounders in his first exposure to the majors, touching the right-hander up for six homers in just 12.2 innings (13 appearances). However, he was much better overall at Triple-A Omaha (3.14 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) and still missed bats at a good clip upon arrival to Kansas City. The former second-round pick should push for a spot on the Opening Day roster.
