Valbuena (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
There was optimism earlier in the week that Valbuena would be able to avoid a stint on the DL, but after getting the last few days off, he's still not quite ready to get back on the field. The Astros recalled Tyler White from Triple-A Fresno in a corresponding move Friday to help with depth corner infield depth, but Alex Bregman looks to be the prime candidate to see most of the playing time at the hot corner in Valbuena's absence. Valbuena's placement on the DL is retroactive to July 27, so he'll be eligible to return in mid-August.
