Brignac was designated for assignment by the Braves on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.

Many of the Braves' infield options have been struggling at the plate this season, and Brignac was no different. In his limited at-bats, the 30-year-old could only muster a .207 batting average with three runs and a lone RBI. This performance led the Braves to send him off the 40-man roster, presumably in favor of younger players in the organization. A corresponding move has yet to be made, but Atlanta will likely need a new reserve infielder while Brignac heads to the minors to act as organizational depth.
