The Brewers activated Barnes (elbow) from the disabled list Friday.
Barnes is ready to re-join the Brewers after making three rehab appearances with Double-A Biloxi in late August. He held his own in 16 appearances with the big club earlier this season, posting a 3.71 ERA and 18:4 K:BB over 17 innings. He will likely work in middle relief, but could get some opportunities in late-game situations in front of closer Tyler Thornburg.
