Bandy started at catcher in Monday's loss to the Rockies and went 1-for-4 with a run scored.
Bandy and Manny Pina emerged as the two winners in a spring competition for the two catching spots on the Brewers' roster. Manager Craig Counsell has not said how he will split the playing time between Bandy and Pina behind the plate, but with Bandy getting the nod Opening Day, that would imply he is the Brewers' top backstop as the 2017 regular season gets underway.
