Manager Craig Counsell announced Espino will be recalled from Triple-A to start Friday's game against the Cubs.

Espino, who has spent the last 11 years bouncing around the minors, is poised to make his major-league debut against the Cubs after turning heads at Colorado Springs. The 30-year-old is 4-0 and owns a 2.54 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 40:5 K:BB through 39 innings (seven starts) with Triple-A this season. Espino will start in place of Wily Peralta, who was recently shifted to the bullpen. With Junior Guerra (calf) nearing a return from the disabled list, this could be Espino's only guaranteed start for the big club.
