Brewers' Ryan Braun: No timetable for rehab assignment

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Braun (calf) is continuing to make progress but remains without a timetable for beginning a minor-league rehab assignment, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Braun has been sidelined for a little over two weeks with the calf injury, and while it doesn't sound as though he's experienced any setbacks in his recovery, it's a growing likelihood that he could be trending toward a month-long absence. Hernan Perez has been acting as the primary replacement for Braun in the left field, but with Jonathan Villar (back) and Travis Shaw (personal) also missing time of late, the Brewers opted to fortify the outfield by adding prospects Lewis Brinson and Brett Phillips. One of those latter two players could end up seeing regular at-bats in Braun's stead if the absences of Villar and Shaw make playing the infield more of a priority for the versatile Perez.
