Rivero received an invitation to spring training Friday.
Rivero spent 2015 with Triple-A Iowa, putting up a 3.16 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 57 innings. The 27-year-old is going to have a tough time cracking the Cubs' bullpen despite the solid year last season, so there's a good likelihood that he'll end up in Triple-A for much of the season once again.
