Hammel left Thursday's start with cramping in his pitching hand. He allowed two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out six over five innings prior to exiting, but received no decision against the Braves.

After giving up a two-run homer, Hammel settled down and held the Braves scoreless until he had to leave the game with cramps in his pitching hand. He left the game with a 2-0 deficit, and was on the hook for a potential loss until the Cubs' offense came up with a three-run eighth inning. Although he hasn't posted a win since June 4, he still has a respectable 3.46 ERA along with a 1.13 WHIP on the year. As long as his injury checks out, he'll make his next start after the All-Star break.
