Uehara recorded his first save of the season in Thursday's win over the Reds. He pitched a scoreless inning with no hits allowed and two strikeouts.

Regular closer Wade Davis had worked Tuesday and Wednesday, so manager Joe Maddon turned to Uehara to quiet a potential Cincinnati rally in the ninth inning. The veteran allowed an inherited runner to score on a sac fly, but he then struck out the next two hitters to end the game. Uehara likely won't pick up too many more saves this year, but he should be a decent source of holds with strong ratios.
