The Diamondbacks and Red Sox completed two trades Friday night, with one featuring pitcher Zeke Spruill heading to Boston in exchange for pitcher Myles Smith.

Spruill came to the Diamondbacks from Atlanta in the trade that sent Justin Upton to the Braves. The pitcher made six appearances, including one start, with the Diamondbacks in 2014, going 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA and 14:4 K:BB ratio in 22 2/3 innings. He also posted a 6.04 ERA and 71:21 K:BB ratio in 79 innings with Triple-A Reno.

Smith was drafted in the fourth round of the 2013 draft by the Red Sox. He went 5-10 with a 5.82 ERA and 73:62 K:BB ratio in 103 2/3 innings with Class A Greenville in 2014.
