The Diamondbacks announced that they have traded left-handed reliever Oliver Perez to the Astros

Perez is in the midst of a fine 2015 campaign. In 48 games for Arizona, Perez posted a 3.10 ERA over 29 innings of work. He hasn't allowed an earned run in 23 consecutive outings.

The veteran lefty will provide the Astros with addition to a beleaguered bullpen, as they prepare for a playoff run. He is expected to join the Astros on Sunday in the series-finale against the A's.

In exchange, the Diamondbacks will receive minor league pitcher Junior Garcia from the Astros. The 19-year-old left-hander owns a shiny 0.96 ERA over 37 1/3 innings in the lower levels of the Astros' farm system.
