Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Shuts down Padres over six innings

Walker spun six scoreless innings in Friday's 10-1 win over the Padres, scattering two hits and three walks while striking out three batters.

With his pitch count sitting at 90 after six frames, Walker probably had another inning left in him, but with the Diamondbacks owning a commanding 10-0 lead, there was little reason for manager Torey Lovullo to keep the right-hander out there. Walker has been charged with three or fewer earned runs in his last five outings to lower his season ERA to 3.46, but he's hasn't been able to rack up the strikeouts since his 11-K masterpiece against the Padres back on April 27. In fact, he has nearly as many walks (11) as strikeouts (13) over his last four outings.
