Federowicz agreed to join the Giants on a minor league deal Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
The 29-year-old backstop has mashed Triple-A pitching over the past few years, but his career .194 batting line in the big leagues limits his value significantly. As long as Buster Posey is behind the dish in San Francisco, Federowicz will likely have to settle for an organizational depth role.
