Rangers starter Yovani Gallardo had not made it through seven innings in his last 13 starts heading into his outing Saturday against Oakland. But at least he had been performing well.
That is, until the Athletics pounded him for five runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings to lower his record to 12-10. Gallardo walked two and struck out three.
He was fine through four, but did not survive a terrible fifth. Three singles and home runs by Mark Canha and Danny Valencia turned a 1-0 lead into a 5-1 deficit and knocked Gallardo out of the game.
