Indians' Jason Kipnis: Given timetable of 4-5 weeks

Kipnis (shoulder) will resume hitting and throwing in a week and is expected to be four to five weeks from returning to game action.

Kipnis was recently diagnosed with a right shoulder strain, and though he'll be able to advance his strengthening program next week, the team's doctor remains cautious with the second baseman. With that timetable, Kipnis could miss the first few weeks of the season. Michael Martinez appears to be the main beneficiary in the starter's absence.
