Yankees infielder Jose Pirela earned a rare start Monday, as the utility man will play second and bat ninth in his first appearance in the starting lineup since July 8.
Pirela was recalled when rosters expanded and has one hit in two plate appearances. He is hitting .221 in 31 games this season.
