Gaviglio (2-1) gave up an earned run on four hits and a wild pitch over five innings in Saturday's 9-2 win over the Rays. He struck out six.

The young right-hander worked up a robust 90 pitches over his five frames, but he was effective overall after surrendering 10 runs (six earned) over the 11 innings encompassing his previous pair of outings. Gaviglio has been reasonably effective as a stop-gap measure while the majority of the regular Mariners rotation nurses back to health from assorted injuries. It remains to be seen if he'll retain a role with the big-league club when all hands are back on deck. For the time being, he's scheduled to take the mound again in a home start versus the Twins next Thursday.
