Mariners' Steve Cishek: Undergoes hip surgery

Cishek underwent surgery last Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his left hip.

It's unclear how the injury was sustained, but this is not good news for Cishek or the Mariners. The reliever won't be able to resume baseball activities for 4-to-6 months, which could put his availability for spring training and potentially Opening Day in question. His exact return date will likely become clearer as his rehab progresses.
