Manager Don Mattingly said Hechavarria (oblique) is progressing well in his recovery and could begin rehab games in two weeks, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
Hechavarria, out since May 9 with the injury, missed 10 games earlier this season with a similar ailment, so this absence appears to be a bit more severe. Nonetheless, his steady progression is good news and a firmer timetable for his return should become clear once he gets closer to a minor-league rehab stint. J.T. Riddle will continue seeing playing time at shortstop in his absence.
