McGowan's contract was selected by the Marlins on Wednesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
McGowan was DFA'd back in mid-April, but he'll now rejoin the 40-man roster after spending the past few weeks at Triple-A New Orleans. McGowan will take the roster spot vacated by Craig Breslow, who was DFA'd Wednesday afternoon.
